back in action!

Well Rowdy is doing really well! We had our first "lesson" last Tuesday and he's getting stronger and stronger. He tries so hard! We have basically done all the upper level stuff, but to a lesser degree. We are just focusing on getting him stronger and not so much the movements. He knows everything...we just want him to be strong enough to do it well.
I am proud of him though. He's so happy and everyday he's getting better and better...:D
YAY! we're getting there!

UPDATE:
Rowdy is doing just super!! Really strong and moving better than ever! We are working alot on the GP stuff again which is really exciting! He's taking it all so well! Ones are surely coming back and we can get about 5-8 pretty consistently, but I feel once the canter gets stronger again we will knocking them done like normal! The piaffe is coming well again too :D We also have started a bit of passage which he LOVES to do! The trot is wonderful. More expressive, passagey, and bouncey ;) He's definately more rideable right now because I think he LOVES being back into work :D he's so happy :D love it! SOOO EXCITING! :D

Well Rowdy was just super today! It was his first day at 20 minutes and he was very happy. He wanted to do extended trot so bad! He's really getting back into nicely, which makes me so happy!
Soon we will be back in action!!!

ups and downs....

Rowdy's conditioning is going well, and he's now ok to be gradually put back into training...thank goodness!!
We have been trotting, trotting, trotting. On Sunday I think I will do some canter with him as well. For the most part he is a happy camper, but will be even happier when he can do tricks again!! I think he misses having a job! It frustrates him!! Well, don't play so hard little Rowdy!!!! At least he's back to normal :D On a nicer note, at least I am still in good form for my riding. And let me say that no matter how much you do in your lifetime, Passage and Piaffe NEVER get old. I am so thankful that I have gotten the chance to ride fantastic horses! How great!
In other news, school is going well, and we a bit more than halfway into the semester. I go back to Nebraska in 2 weeks for the NDA Awards banquet which always is a good time. Still don't have a place to stay...but will figure it out soon!
Until next time

A much overdue update :D

Well, I haven't written in this blog forEVER!! but I can just write 4 words that express how my summer went...
I LOVE MY HORSE!
Rowdy was fantastic all summer....first with the st. louis show, competing at I-1 for the first time Rowdy and I pulled out a 67%. the next day: a 68%, and the last day a 69% and qualified for the champs...... What a Boy!!!!! :D

Next we were off to Waterloo where it was a fun and easier show....We showed our first I-1 freestyle, and the PSG again. We were also trying to qualify for champs in the freestyle and the psg. First day the freestyle: 66% and first place, second day was psg: 67% and placed second, (we beat George Williams btw :D), and the third day was also the freestyle: 67% and first place, all the goals were accomplished. I just needed one more score to qualify for the I-1 freestyle

Last show before champs was Traverse City. First day we showed the psg for practice: the judge was very very difficult and Rowdy was VERY spooky resulting in a 60%, a bit more schooling and a day later we showed the freestyle: WON the class with a 70%!!!!!! now we were all qualified for champs in the PSG, I-1, AND I-1 freestyle! the next day was bit like the first, resulting in a 63% for the I-1, and the last day we were competing in the $2000 freestyle class, in front of an "O" judge. after a mistake on my behalf, we ended up third with a 65%.

Brad also asked me if I wanted to be the "test" rider at the eventing cdi at richland park.....and so we did....it was a fun experience! rowdy was fairly well behaved for having to hop out of the trailer and go "show" :D he's maturing!!!

Champs were just a couple of weeks ago...and they were great. We competed and won the midwest i-1 freestyle with a 70%, Won the GAIG/USDF i1 freestyle with a 67% and was reserve in the psg and the i-1 after a couple of very hard and a bit frustrating warm-ups....but overall, Rowdy was super!

We were also chosed to ride in the Debbie McDonald Symposium held at Albion College!!!
Brad, Bailey, Melanie and I all rode and had a great time! We learned lots!!!!

Now onto the present, we are currently the Reserve champions for I-1 in the Junior/Young Rider division with an average score of 67%! and are ranked pretty highly in other standings as well...

Onto next year, hoping (crosses fingers) for I-2....but we shall see.....if he's not ready, he's not ready. He WILL tell me when he's ready...i have no doubt!

Rowdy and I had a great summer!!! Most importantly, we just had fun.....which was my goal after doing Young Rider's last year....

I can't say this enough!!!
WHAT A GREAT YEAR!

Wow!

Life has been such a blur the last couple of weeks, hence the nonblogging. My computer hard drive crashed, so no computer of my own for about 2 and a half weeks, my emotions have been outta whack for a bit, but now are all straightened out!! YAY! I have decided to stay with Brad for show season, to obtain the full effect of this new situation, but I will be going home for 2 and a half weeks between 2nd and 3rd term, which will hopefully fill my home needs :) I am very excited!!
Anyway on my Rowdy:
He has been very very good! We started him on Mushroom Matrix and it takes 2 weeks to get into his system, but I think that it will and has helped alot! We got 11 ones the other day which is not rare but not extremely common. He is completely straight during any other tempis, but with ones he's swings like a monkey! Oh well, it's probably just me trying to get the rhythm into my head and seat! The piaffe is coming right along, and now he is offering it to me without Brad being there to help us! And with Brad he is getting much more spring to it! Yay!!!! I also bought him a gold fly sheet! It is like metallic!!! I love it! It will definately go with his gold fly mask and bell boots!! He definately will not get lost in the crowd!!!
No news on the saddle yet. She ordered two and they should be here by the end of February. Otherwise I don't know what's going to happen.
Also I am a fan of another little animal.....Bella!!! I have grown to love her so much!! I am teaching her to do tricks!!! She is so smart!!! I have taught her to sit, lay down, shake, and crawl......and Brad wants me to teach her to get on the couch...which results in me picking her up....and she is a load.....but not fat...just right...... :) she gets so excited when i come in the lounge!!! She runs and jumps!!! Probably cuz she knows i feed her ;)
It's 7th week in school so everything is coming to an abrupt and crazy tornado like work schedule....I will try to write again soon!!!

LOOSE HORSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all!

As you all can see from my title, their was a little mishap at the farm today!! I had just gone into the utility room to clean my tack when maybe 2 minutes later, I hear the horses gettting adjatated. It was about 7:15 so I thought to myself, maybe Mike was there to close or do something else and the horses thought it was feeding time.....So I come out of the utility room walk towards the front of the barn when to my suprise......Reiner comes walking around the corner from the arena! LOOSE! He wasn't breathing hard and I figured that he had just gotten out and when he heard my voice he wanted to investigate. So I had no time to get a halter, and plus sometimes he can be a little tricky about being caught, but I knew I had to do something quick before he either went up and talked to PJ or ran back into the arena.....Thank GOD he is young and distracted easily....he was talking to Derris which was fine, but I distracted him with a fist, (he thought it was a treat) and lead him into his stall! I checked for injuries or heat....nothing.....WHEW! That little escape artist!!!!!

but he is soo cute!!!

Anyway it was about 8 degrees here today so couldn't ride all that hard.....I just rode Rowdy bareback, which he enjoyed because he has been working especially hard and well lately! Then I got on Salina and had a good ride too! With her I am working on overall a bit more contact and throughness in transitions.....Also now that she is really forward, I am working on half halting her back. which seems to be going well....She is such a fun horse and is progressing really well! I am so lucky I have a friend that lets me ride her!!!!!!!

On Tuesday Rowdy was spectacular.....suprising me with fantastic pirouettes that were really adjustable, ones, and piaffe that was getting very good! Also half pass was lovely!!! OH it was a great ride! I love the feeling he has been giving me in the extensions lately.....very uphill, not rushing, and VERY big! Brad always says if my helmet didn't have a strap then it would go FLYING! Lol!

Trying to figure out show season at the moment but have to wait to talk to my parents.....I might have it worked out but nothing is set in stone at this point!

Classes are going well and I have been getting to bed later and later.....bad bad bad! I am trying to go to bed earlier though!!

Otherwise I am going to try to ride tommorow, but it is entirely possible that Brad won't let me or I will do something like I did today....Way to cold!

Until next time!
